This victory isn’t complete, without a special mention to the Maths teacher, Grant Reid, who has been the center of influence in bringing about the Mangahigh revolution in the school. Grant calls Mangahigh an outstanding innovation and has shared his experience with us:

Our experience with mangahigh.com so far has been fantastic. The kids are hugely motivated to outdo each other on an individual, class, syndicate, and international level. The maths learning is intense. It is especially rewarding for those students who are high achievers in mathematics, yet suitable for all levels. Students complete a large number of mental calculations across all strands with every game or ‘lesson’ they play. Mental strategies are reinforced, mathematical rules learned, and relationships between different areas of mathematics highlighted. A high proportion of students are actively engaged both at home and during school time. We now have all 22 classes loaded with about half of this number now active on a daily basis (homework and/or group rotations etc.) Teachers are reporting high levels of enthusiasm on the part of students. I thoroughly recommend Mangahigh

Back to School: Automatic Student Roster Updating is Here!

You asked – we listened, and now we bring you a new automatic student update tool.  No more manual updating of class membership for hundreds of student records:  Simply go to the Admin page, and select Import Student List.  Our whizzy new tool will guide you through the process of importing a new file, and synchronising that file with pre-existing records so that all student data is safely preserved, but class membership is updated.  We actually think you might enjoy updating student lists from now on.

Marcus du Sautoy OBE visits Bacon’s College

What an incredible morning!  Marcus arrived at 08:30 sharp on 28th June, and addressed an audience of 60 Gifted & Talented students from Bacon’s College (Rotherhithe), the winner of the May Mathematics Games League.  After presenting medals and certificates to some enthusiastic mathematicians, Marcus gave a fascinating talk about prime numbers, involving the students in a game of ‘Prime Number Hopscotch’ among other activities.  Students finished the morning with lots of new ideas, and the ability to communicate with aliens!  Thanks to Carl & Ian and everyone from Bacon’s for arranging this great event.
